Janice D. Bennett, Ph.D.
Relationships involve many big decisions that are frequently difficult to make on your own.
Learn how to get closer to attaining the relationship and life you've always wanted. Let me show you how!
What I Do
In my work as a psychologist over the past 23 years, I treated many singles looking to get married who had become depressed and demoralized by the dating process. I now use my skills and experience to provide a service for healthy singles that focuses on getting results. It's called "personal coaching" and like personal training or sports coaching, it's all about helping you get past the obstacles preventing you from having the relationship you really want.
As your personal coach, I'll help you develop a "dating road map" with strategies to get you into action and keep you focused. I'll teach you how to date more consciously and make healthy relationship decisions. By working together closely, I'll help you manage any self-defeating thoughts, handle your frustrations, trust your instincts, and give you all the support and encouragement you need.

My Mission
My mission is to help singles create relationships that are meaningful, gratifying and long-lasting. I want singles to feel more positive and hopeful about their innate abilities to have a life partner relationship that is fulfilling on intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual levels.
Professional
Born, raised and professionally trained in Los Angeles, I received my Ph.D. in Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles (CSPP-LA). Among the most highly regarded Ph.D. programs in psychology in the United States, CSPP-LA provided me with a strong foundation in the science of human behavior. From this foundation, I have built a professional career spanning 23 years.
In 2002 I transitioned into providing personal coaching, receiving training from MentorCoach, a coaching program designed to train mental health professionals to capitalize on their clinical skills and experience to become effective coaches.
In 2004, I joined RCI, receiving relationship coach training and specialize in working with singles.
I am a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), as well as the American Psychological Association (APA) and the New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA).

Personal
I consider myself a "California girl who lives in New York," as I successfully navigated a long distance dating relationship to marry my husband Richard over 20 years ago. We live in bustling New York City with our beautiful 3 children. Some of my leisure interests are cooking, bicycle-riding, hiking, working out at the gym, traveling and spending time with my family. We enjoy all that New York City has to offer, going to the theatre and various museums as well as traveling to various sites of nature.
Coaching Style
By incorporating relevant psychological, sociological and motivational resources, I ask a lot of powerful questions to get to know my clients and their strengths. I have them teach me what they know about themselves so that I can reach them on multiple levels. Using my instincts, coupled with my training and experience, we work together to identify areas and behaviors that need to be modified or changed in order to get different, and better, results in their personal lives.
The coaching I provide my clients is over the phone or in person on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, and is supplemented with unlimited email contact between sessions. This enables me to be available on an ongoing basis to help improve my clients' conscious dating skills and address many other areas of their social lives. My clients have told me that they appreciate the honesty, warmth and concern that I have for them, and that it helps them feel less alone while looking for their life partner. And, of course, we try to have fun too!
Client Comments
"I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for your coaching over the last five months. Your advice was always excellent and I believe it was very helpful in allowing me to become engaged to the most wonderful girl. The phone coaching was direct, focused, and goal-oriented. Your e-mail advice was very prompt and thorough. I also found you to be genuinely concerned with my success. I hope you will continue to be helpful in assisting singles for many years to come."

"Thank you Dr. Janice for helping me become engaged! I am grateful to you for so many things: but mostly for coaching me to sit on my hands and not to call him constantly, for helping to identify and manage my gremlins, for enabling me to trust my intuition and take care of my own needs, and for educating me on the subtleties of how relationships develop! I know I benefitted enormously from your wisdom, especially your coaching me to use clear communication. If not for being coached, I might have messed up the first five important dates with my soulmate! Thank you, thank you, thank you for being cthere with you no-nonsense coaching styule and for helping me to get out of my own way. Everyone who is dating for marriage needs a coach like you to save them months and years spinning their wheels."

"I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for your valuable time and coaching. When we first started working together, you knew that I was a bit of a serial dater and tended to stay in relationships way longer than I should. You helped me to look at each relationship in a much clearer way and to move on when it was a 'dead end' relationship one reason or another. You helped me to refine my goals and dreams and never give up. And finally, I met someone who met my dreams. So far, he met ALL criteria (which were high) surpassed my wildest imaginations. He is brilliant, funny has a heart of absolute gold. I am grateful every moment we are together. Thank for helping me believe, stay focused and faith. I have not compromised on any issue. Keep doing what you doing!! There are many more individuals waiting to find happiness."

"I heard about Dr. Janice from a friend of mine who had become engaged and married by using her coaching services. I had been dating for a long time and had my list of what I thought I wanted in a relationship. But when I took Janice's 'Beyond Chemistry' teleclasses, I learned to focus on what was really important, and that what I wanted and needed was legitimate.
When I began dating E.L. a few months later, I had the clarity to date with more consciousness, but knew that I could benefit even more by having Janice coach me on an individual basis. Her wisdom and guidance helped me to focus in on E.L.'s enduring qualities, and her support helped me to see how E.L. and I had developed a healthy partnership which was enhanced by our good communication. And so we got engaged!
I have already recommended you to my friends and will continue to do so. Thank you Dr. Janice!"
